  It is needless to say that the film has become an increasingly powerful medium but in the case of Panjab we have failed to maxize the potential of this art form. Our mission for this film is to take you through a journey of Panjab’s villages and expose the catastrophe looming in the villages. Harpreet Kaur’s film will not only focus on the background of this issue but will also focus on the family members, especially the children, left behind. What are the dreams and aspirations of these children? Do they have proper education, health care and nourishment? How are they coping with the loss of their parent and will they ever survive the cycle of debt?
  
  The production of the film started in 2006 with the survey in various villages of Panjab and Haryana. The team worked closely with Inderjit Singh Jaijee of Movement Against State Repression (MASR) for his expertise and extensive research.
  
  This independent production which wrapped up in 2008 was shot entirely in high definition. The production team consisted of individuals who were not only highly experienced in their fields but also very knowledgeable and sympathetic to the cause.
